How do I get my own Love Dare Journal?

Click “Sign-up” at the top of the page. Create a username and enter your email address. Follow the prompts to enter a Journal title and web address id. Look in your email inbox of the email account you just registered. Open the message and click the link to activate your journal. Sign in with the userid and password supplied in the email message. Remember to change your password to something you will remember once logged in for the first time.

How do I post a journal entry?

Once logged in, you will see several options at the top of the screen. Click “Write” and then “Posts.” Enter a title for your message (i.e. “Day 1: Love is Patient”). Type in your entry, enter the tags [phrases you would like to associate with the post, i.e. Day 1, Sherwood Baptist Church, or any other word or phrase that you would want to categorize your post. Then, click "Publish" on the right hand side of your screen. Your post will now but available for everyone to see.

How do I embed an image, video, or other file hosted at another location on the Internet?

Many video sites will have a script for posting to WordPress that can be copied and pasted into your post. Select to post to WordPress and copy the embed code and paste it into the message.

How to I report a post or comment that is inappropriate and should be removed?

Click the "Report Inappropriate" button at the bottom of the post and/or email lovedareadmin@bhpublishinggroup.com. Please include the full web address where we can find the post (Hint: copy and paste it from the web browser address bar at the top of the screen). Our staff will review the post and take appropriate action.

I want to let others know where to find my posts, where should I tell them to go?

When you signed up, you created an id name that is used in the web address bar. Note this and type it in after the one of the following web addresses.  http://www.lovedarejournal.net/[idname] or http://lovedare.bhpublishinggroup.com/[idname]. Use whichever is easiest to remember.  As an example, the address for this journal is http://www.lovedarejournal.net/lovedare or http://lovedare.bhpublishinggroup.com/lovedare. Further, you and others can subscribe to your posts using and RSS feed reader.  For more information on RSS, see this page.

Themes

We have provided a customized Love Dare Journals graphics theme for use with your journal. To activate, log in and select “Design”, and select the “Love Dare Journal” theme from the available themes. The theme preview will appear, and click “Activate…” at the top-right of the preview.

RSS Feeds

A feed is a function of special software that allows feedreaders to access a site, automatically looking for new content and then posting the information about new content and updates to another site. This provides a way for users to keep up with the latest and hottest information posted on different blogging sites.

You will find a link to the Posts RSS Feed and Comments RSS Feed at the bottom of each journal.

Click to learn more about the feeds provided…

In addition, we are providing a site-wide journals feed, which includes the most recent posts or comments from all across the Love Dare Journals Community. Those feeds are:

Recent Sitewide Posts: http://lovedare.bhpublishinggroup.com/?wpmu-feed=posts
Recent Sitewide Comments: http://lovedare.bhpublishinggroup.com/?wpmu-feed=comments

You can add feeds from other blogs to your own journal sidebar, too. Select “Design” and then “Widgets”, and you can customize your journal sidebar. Click “Add” next to the RSS button, and then “Edit” to add your feed address and title. “Save” your changes to finish adding an external feed.

Enable Search Engines

When signing up, you have the option of making your journal available to search engines. This option is preferred, and it is the only way to have your journal appear in the Recent Comments, Recent Posts, the Journals List, or any of the RSS feeds.

When making comments on a journal, those comments will keep the privacy setting of the journal, rather than the setting of your own journal.

Please note that choosing “No” does not limit public access to your journal, it only keeps it out of the lists mentioned above. Site Administrators will of course have access to view all journals, comments, and posts.

Using Tags

Tags are used similar to categories on your journal, with a couple exceptions. They are not ordered, and you may use as many tags as you want for any post. A feed is generated from the tags as well, so someone could subscribe to all posts with a specific tag.
